After graduating from Penn State with a degree in Political Science, Carin moved to DC to pursue a job in politics and law. She took a job working in a law firm. After a few months, she started dating one of the lawyers (gasp!) and realized she could no longer stay at the firm. She enrolled in George Washington University’s event planning program. Within the first hour of the very first seminar, she knew she found her place. Two years later, in 2002, Events Extraordinaire was born. With 15 years in the event planning industry, and 13 years as the founder and creator of Events Extraordinaire, Carin Lomax has built relationships with top notch professionals in the industry. Although her background was in meeting planning, she loved the creative side of special events. With the creation of Events Extraordinaire, she could combine her detail oriented meeting planning skills with her passion for creating fun and memorable special events. Carin is often told that her ability to listen to her clients and her calmness in stressful situations sets her apart.
Carin resides in Falls Church, Virginia with her husband Jason, her two rambunctous boys Justin and Bennett and their beloved yellow lab, Blaine.
Rachel and Carin met in 2002 when Rachel was working as a conference planner. Like Carin, she knew that she was too creative to work in such a cookie cutter profession and had dreams of one day planning social events.
Rachel knew she had the skills needed to make the switch to social events and already had experience planning social events for family and friends. After 10 years in conference planning, and at Carin’s suggestion, Rachel joined Events Extraordinaire in 2013. Rachel is now able to combine her keen attention to detail with her imaginative and creative abilities.
Rachel is a DC native and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. She grew up in Bethesda, MD, graduated from the University of Maryland and now resides in Kensington, MD with her husband and son.
