2020 Wedding Dress Trends
Every bride has a special vision of themselves on their wedding day.
Whether you are planning an outdoor rustic reception in the Virginia countryside, or a chic stylish wedding in DC, your vision of yourself & your attire on your wedding day, is probably one of the most important details to plan.
Wedding trends vary from year to year and 2020 doesn’t disappoint.
Bridal fashion is always a key insight into what will unfold during the rest of the event. According to The Knot's 2019 Real Weddings Study, ‘1 in 5 brides will wear color down the aisle’- such a dramatic change over the past 10 years. Here are some of the top wedding dress trends we see popping up for the spring:
Floral prints – such a fun way to express yourself on your wedding day, and just in time for spring. They can be bold or subtle, but floral embroidery and floral prints are finding their way into many wedding dresses this season.
Ruffles & Tiers – Big and Bold! Ruffles are a big way to add impact to your wedding gown, and showcase your fashion forward style. Another fun trend down the aisle is the use of tiers, either along the front or back of your dress.Layer upon layer of organza, silk and satin with poufy bottom layers are now the way to go! Nice to see something different from the minimalist sleek silhouette which has covered runways and magazines the past few years.
Volume – Volume is back, and we love it! From a tulle underskirt to puffy shoulders and sleeves. A great way to showcase your individuality and a beautiful dress.
Light & Breezy – The opposite of the last trend - newish to the runway are sheer, light breezy dresses, which align well with the romantic bride. Perfect for a destination wedding on the beach, or a romantic garden ceremony. This trend includes delicate floral accents, small beading, & off the shoulder variations.
Bling & Shine – Always a favorite for us, as we love some good bling. Dresses adorned with beautiful crystals and rhinestones are always a hit with a confident bride. New trends this year includes incorporating metallic beading, shimmer satin and luxurious fabrics. This bride will be shimmering down the aisle and dancing the night away.
Whatever dress style you select to ascend down the aisle, it’s most important that it showcases your individual style and makes you feel amazing in it. Your dress will reflect how you feel about yourself, and that image will shine throughout the day. Don’t worry about measuring up to someone else’s standards, or blowing your budget on some fancy designer. You want your dress to reflect your taste and personal style, and if you follow those guidelines you can’t go wrong. We hope you find these styling tips helpful as you plan your special day!
